Our very own volunteer extraordinaire, Michael Cinque, has been chosen by the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz as this year’s “Be the Difference” award recipient!
Volunteering is the contribution of time, effort, and talent to a cause or mission without gain. It enriches our society, brings us together in a community, and helps keep businesses and other organizations afloat. And as an organization we want to highlight our volunteer, Michael Cinque.
Michael enriches our community by not only participating with great enthusiasm, but he shares his enthusiasm with others and motivates others to do the same. One of the better-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteers support our communities and add to them in their own unique way using a wide variety of skills, knowledge, and experience. Michael supports and impacts our organization with his generosity and his commitment to our goals.
When Michael, a retired software quality assurance engineer, isn’t volunteering, he enjoys photography, running, music, being outdoors in beautiful Santa Cruz. In his own words he states, “I volunteer to support the hunger relief effort in our community. Helping with hunger relief is the most rewarding, and the most important, aspect of my volunteer experience. There is no reason why anyone in this country, U.S. citizen or not, should be in need of food.”
Thank you, Michael, for all you do for the Santa Cruz County community through Second Harvest Food Bank.
